Guest Gameday Diva: The Baseball Gypsy
Our newest Gameday Diva is celebrating baseball season, all year long. Korrin Torres is an MiLB wife and is experiencing the lifestyle firsthand with her husband as they travel together. She runs an inspiring YouTube channel called "The Baseball Gypsy," based around her new life and how she tackles it with complete grace and loving support for her husband. One hundred and forty-two. That’s how many games I have attended this season to watch my husband chase his dream of seeing his name on a big-league roster. This is my first year traveling with him and let me tell you, the minor league lifestyle is a grind. I admire the men giving everything they have to a sport that doesn’t always give back.
My husband has had four days off since the season started almost five months ago. They spend more than 14 hours on the bus some trips, traveling to other states to play an opposing team. The other MVP’s in this lifestyle? The women alongside them on this journey. The dream of “making it” becomes their dream too because they see the heart and hustle that the man they love is putting in, every day.
They pray for these men who have dedicated their life to a game of failure because the outcome isn’t something they can control. It is so hard to watch the person you love struggle, but it is one of the most rewarding things in the world to see them succeed. Baseball is one of the most romantic storylines I have ever been a part of. There are protagonists, antagonists, heroic moments and devastating turns along the way.
I met the man I get to spend the rest of my life with at a baseball stadium 5 years ago, and since then, the field has felt more like home than any roof I’ve had over my head. Babe Ruth said it best, “baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world.”
