Stadium Approved: Clear Bag Policy

As of August 1, 2017, most football stadiums will implement the clear bag policy. The entire NFL, SEC, and many Big 12 conference schools have released statements saying they will be putting the policy into place. Most schools and conferences are following the guidelines put forth by the NFL, which you can read about here. Of course, always check with your local stadium for specific rules & regulations before purchasing your go-to gameday bag! The photo below is the most common example given of what is and isn’t permitted.

Why? Most statements from universities say the main two reasons why stadiums across America are switching to clear bags are speed and safety. We all know what it’s like to be in the “handbag” line with your entire group waiting for someone to poke around your purse with a stick before kick off. Now, gate attendants will be able to see all of the contents of your tote or handbag, streamlining the process. As annoyed as we would all like to be about this new policy, at least they are putting safety first.

So, what does this mean? Basically, you can’t bring your purse or tote into the stadium anymore, and you MUST buy a clear bag to carry your game day necessities in. Just because you have to leave your Kate Spade tote or Tory Burch cross-body at home, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style!
